PECE was launched at the Royal Society, London on 8th March 2005. Copies of the presentations are available via the links below. Some photographs of the event are also included below.

  • Robert Lowson - Director of Environment Strategy, Defra - gave an overview of PECE to open the event

  • Victoria Elias, ECO-Accord (Russian NGO) and Chair of the European Eco-Forum, gave a presentation on the sustainable development challenges faced by countries in Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia

  • Rt Hon The Lord Holme of Cheltenham CBE spoke on opportunities for business

  • Tony Hawkhead CBE, Chief Executive of Groundwork, spoke on 'PECE into practice', about the involvement of his organisation in one of the pilot projects. Gennadiy Chizhikov, President of Donetsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a project partner, presented a report on on the pilot's progress

  • Elliot Morley MP, Minister of State for Enviroment and Agri-Environment, gave the closing speech and announced 4 PECE projects to be co-funded by Defra
